Guard the
Margins

Ravenhaven does not forge, nor burn, nor track. We watch from the cliffside. When battles end and the crows descend, when ships founder and the tide retreats, when observatories shutter and the plates fade—we are there. The ravens bring what the world forgets. We carve it into stone, ink it into vellum, and leave it for the next silence.

✒FOLIO VII · BLOODSTAINED

The Feather of Agincourt

A raven returned from the mud of Agincourt with a feather tipped in dried blood. We pressed it between sheets of vellum from a calf born the same winter. The bloodstain, when viewed by candlelight, resolves into the silhouette of a fallen standard-bearer—a marginal note the battlefield itself wrote.

✒FOLIO XII · SALT-CORRODED

The Wax-Sealed Log of the Mary Celeste

Found tangled in a raven's claw after the bird's return from the Sargasso. The log's final entry—"Nov. 25, all well"—is crossed out in a hand not the captain's. The ink has been diluted by seawater, but the salt crystals remain, each one a frozen word.

PROVENANCE: Sargasso Sea, 1872 †
✒FOLIO XIX · LIGHT-SENSITIVE

The Photographic Plate from Lowell

A glass plate, retrieved from the abandoned Lowell Observatory, showing Mars in 1907. The raven that brought it had singed wingtips—the plate had been left in direct sunlight for decades. What remains is a ghost image of canals that never were, and a marginal note in Percival Lowell's hand: "They are watching back."
